On the occasion of the anniversary, the community of Ybbsitz decided to conduct an advertisement for an artistic competition for the sculpture at the main street.
The contribution of project leophard was inspired by an accidental finding: In an old chimney an iron hammer was discovered. Its surface was deeply shredded and cleaved. It turned out that the hammer was heated until reaching red heat and shock chilled afterwards for numerous times.
The workers threw the hammer into their washing water to heat it up, every evening. For about a thousand times this procedure was repeated, resulting in this significant scarring. Streets were cleft into the iron hammer, iron streets “die eisenstrasse”.
